B Standard Guitar
Four half steps down from standard. Used in extreme metal and seven-string guitar adaptations.
B Standard tunes every string down four half steps from E Standard. This is seven-string guitar territory achieved on a six-string. The tone is extremely deep and works for extreme metal, progressive metal and experimental heavy music.
At this pitch, standard 25.5" scale guitars struggle to maintain string tension and intonation. A baritone or extended-scale instrument is the practical choice for players who stay in B Standard regularly.

B Standard Practicalities
String sets starting at .013 or .014 are common. The nut slots will almost certainly need filing to accommodate thicker strings. Intonation adjustments at the bridge are mandatory. The reward is a massive, chest-thumping tone that fills a room with low-frequency power.
