Groove Metal Guitar
Groove metal is all about the riff. Heavy, syncopated, mid-tempo rhythms that make you headbang. Pantera defined the genre in the 90s, and their songs remain some of the most satisfying metal riffs to play on guitar.

Groove Metal Guitar
Groove metal takes the speed of thrash and slows it down to a crushing, syncopated groove. The emphasis is on tight, rhythmic palm muting with accents that lock in with the drums. Dimebag Darrell's guitar work with Pantera is the textbook: heavy tones, innovative whammy bar techniques and solos that blend blues feeling with extreme metal aggression.
Walk has one of the most recognizable riffs in metal. Floods features what many consider Dimebag's finest solo. These songs sit in D Standard and Drop D tunings.
