Few songs in Black Metal demand this much from a rhythm guitarist right out of the gate. Dissection built their sound on tightly picked tremolo riffs layered over melodic lead lines, and "Into Infinite Obscurity" is a compact early example of that approach. The right hand is the real challenge here: sustaining clean, even tremolo picking at speed without letting the attack blur into mush takes real muscle memory. Meanwhile the fretting hand has to shift through dark, diminished and minor shapes while keeping every note articulate under that relentless picking motion. Synchronising both hands cleanly is what separates a sloppy run-through from a convincing performance. Use the Practice Toolbar to isolate the densest riff sections and loop them slowed down, gradually pushing the tempo up only once each passage feels locked in. Patience with the small sections will pay off faster than running the whole piece repeatedly at full speed.

• Tremolo picking is the core technique throughout, so building stamina and consistency in your picking hand is the main physical challenge.
• The riffs move through dark minor and diminished chord shapes, so knowing your minor scale positions across the neck will help you learn the parts faster.
• Looping individual riff cells slowed down with the Practice Toolbar is especially useful here, since small timing inconsistencies are very exposed in tremolo-based black metal.
